Can you imagine the world without Google? I certainly can’t. Don’t forget it wouldn’t just be no Google, there’d be no other search engines and likely no AI either, at least not as we know it. Honestly these guys revolutionised our world, pretty incredible stuff.

  2. Man, how I wish I had been a young adult around the time these two were building Google, I would have loved to have got involved and been part of the incredible revolution they created. What a time to be alive it must have been. We won’t see the likes of this again for a long time, maybe even ever.

I grew up in Menlo Park and met up with Larry Page and Sergey Brin many times. They were really nice guys, down to earth and very polite. My mom says she always hoped I would date one of them but it never happened that way. In the end I left for college in Atlanta and met my future husband there but I never forgot these two cool dudes and was astonished – but not surprised – as their successes grew exponentially. They deserve all their plaudits and good things, such genuine guys.

I remember good old Alta Vista, it was my favourite search engine till my IT tutor made us use Google for an assignment and ever since then I stuck with it. I think AV got bought up Yahoo in the end, I even used to have an email account with them. Google really did take over the whole search engine sector, no others stood a chance really. It will be interesting to see how it stands up against the realm of AI and ChatGPT et al.
