I have been running businesses for 30+ years and the way technology has transformed every aspect of our operations is incredible. Shipping is just one of those areas but yes technology has made such a huge difference, even from the information that’s shown on the labels. Back in the day it was just the address and even then it wasn’t always accurate! Now a barcode or QR code will have every single bit of information about both the sender and the recipient, plus every movement of the item on its journey. It’s mind-blowing really.

  2. The world is a better place thanks to technology but I think it has gone a bit too far in some regards, but I won’t get into that here! I do like being able to track my packages now and know exactly where my items are on their journey, it gives me peace of mind and it helps being able to see if there is a problem instead of waiting days to find out. I think this side of technology has been hugely beneficial to us all.

I used to run a business and we shipped small mechanical parts all around the world. Shipping technology has improved a thousand fold since the early days and it definitely helped streamline our business significantly. The thing I don’t like now is AI, that has gone too far for me, when I need to speak to an agent to get help with a problem consignment I don’t want to talk to a robot, I need a human.
